A male warthog.

This is a painting of a Rhinocerous seen on a frosty morning. A hard clear light fell into the Rhino house and caught a rather meditative animal waiting for the morning feed. The notched horns are formed by the animals rubbing against the fence - I'm not sure where the scar came from...

This is a detail of a painting, I am just finishing. I drew on memories of time spent in Adalusia. It's a time when the cooler evenings arrive and a the Swifts that spent the summer swirling over the rooftops, head across the straits for Africa.

A recent abstract. I like the idea of how mysterious a crowd can be, especially in a social setting like a smoky pub or a club. I also like idea of moments in a busy scene, where conversation pauses and time seems to stand still.

A recent commision - a distant view of the city of Winchester from a local hill. The painting draws from the commissioner's personal experiences and memories and is based on sketches made from the hill. It is set in the summer time and shows the city shrouded in thick vegetation with a distant backdrop of the South Downs. A dramatic tree on the hill forms the focal point for the Triptych. The painting was painting in acrylic applied with a pallette knife - it's just over four foot wide.

One of my abstract paintings in the office of a product design consultancy. The abstract was inspired by the summer sun in St Ives Cornwall.

This painting was based on a glimpse of an old horse in a neighboring village - sleeping in the afternoon sun. Winter sun gives a bright clear light.
